Aluminum grades – technical aluminum
1xxx series aluminum alloys - technically pure aluminum with its content of not less than 99,00 %. This aluminum often call “unalloyed aluminum” or “technical aluminum”. Depending on the content of impurities domestic standards are divided on the aluminum “aluminum brand”, for example, AD00 grade aluminum GOST 4784-97.
Strength aluminum brands
Very low strength. For alumina typical marks very small amount of alloying and impurity elements - dissolved and the particulate – a, Consequently, small number of barriers to the movement of dislocations and hence the relative ease of plastic deformation. On the other hand, it provides a very good formability and processability of all brands of aluminum.
High resistance to corrosion
Very good corrosion resistance. Since the aluminum stamp almost no intermetallic particles of alloying elements, the protective oxide film is less prone to damage and it is much less points anodic / cathodic reactions, where corrosion can occur. It also makes technical aluminum anodizing very comfortable, whereas the other series of alloys the presence of alloying elements and intermetallic particles may disturb the structure of the anode film and its integrity. Need to mark, However, that the majority of the series alloys anodized without any problems, with the exception of, may be, some series of significant problems, for example, 2xxx.
Good reflectivity
High reflectivity. High reflectivity is a natural characteristic of technical aluminum all brands. Piece of pure aluminum can reflect up 92 % incident light. Doping of aluminum can significantly reduce the rate.
good conductivity – thermal and electrical
Very high thermal and electrical conductivity. The physical basis of both of these properties is related to the electron transfer. Since the electrons are scattered by impurities, electrical and thermal conductivity of the alloys decrease with increasing content of alloying elements.
The combination of these properties makes technical grade aluminum – alloy series 1xxx – very suitable as a material for packaging, products of electronic industry, heaters and heat exchangers, lighting equipment, decorative items and much more.
Iron and silicon
impurities
The main impurity elements in aluminum grades are iron and silicon (in total, no more 1,0 %). These elements improve the strength of the alloys in comparison with a very pure – non-technical – aluminum.
alloying elements
The main alloying elements grades of aluminum are the same iron and silicon (in total, no more 1,0 %). Iron gives a slight increase in strength and greater resistance to creep at moderately high temperatures, for example, for electric wires. Moreover, iron reduces the grain size.
Small amounts of copper in solid solution gives an increase of yield strength of aluminum and ON states N1H, but may contribute to corrosion.
Aluminum grades: foreign and domestic
International series 1xxx includes about 40 various alloys, and our guest 4784-97 contains only 9 aluminum brands. Value aluminum marks foreign and domestic brands of aluminum shown in Table.
